Introduction to the Graphic Design Program
The Graphic Design program at Berkeley College is designed to provide students with a comprehensive education in visual communication, branding, digital media, motion design, and print production. Through project-based learning, students build a strong foundation in design principles, creative strategy, and software skills used across the industry.
Program Overview
The program offers two degree options: an Associate in Applied Science (AAS) and a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) in Graphic Design. The AAS program is offered at the New York City campus, while the BFA program is offered at both the New Jersey and New York City campuses. Students can start with the AAS program and seamlessly transfer their credits to the BFA program, giving them more flexibility, career options, and greater earning potential.

Graduation from high school or the equivalent is a basic requirement for admission. No prior experience or portfolio is required, but students should have a desire and drive to put their passion to work.
Locations and Delivery
The Graphic Design program is offered at the New York City campus (AAS and BFA), the New Jersey campus (BFA), and online (AAS and BFA, with Fall and Winter start options). Beginning in Fall 2025, both the Graphic Design AAS and BFA program courses will be offered at the Woodland Park, NJ campus (Fall start only), the New York City campus (Fall and Winter start only), and online (Fall and Winter start only).
Computer Requirements
Students who choose to use a personal computer should have a Mac (industry preferred) or PC that meets the current system requirements for Adobe Creative Cloud and any additional software used in their courses. Online students also have access to design software through Apporto, a virtual desktop environment that mirrors the tools used in onsite classes.
