Capstone Program

The Senior Capstone Program is designed to offer students an enriching educational journey beyond traditional classroom settings. Taking place over three weeks in May, seniors engage in off-campus endeavors, fostering a multifaceted learning experience that encompasses:

  1. Application of Academic Knowledge: Through practical application and critical thinking, students are encouraged to apply their academic learning to real-world scenarios, thereby deepening their understanding and honing essential skills.
  2. Research and Development: Students have the opportunity to delve into topics aligned with their educational or creative interests, conducting in-depth research and development under the guidance of a sponsor and faculty advisor.
  3. Community Service: Emphasizing the importance of civic engagement and social responsibility, Senior Capstone projects often involve service work.
  4. Career Exploration: By immersing themselves in projects related to their career interests, students gain invaluable hands-on experience, allowing them to explore potential career paths and develop relevant skills in their chosen fields.

Beginning in the winter, seniors embark on a proposal process aimed at crafting a comprehensive plan for their projects. This entails setting clear objectives, establishing guidelines, and determining responsibilities. The student assumes responsibility for every aspect of the Senior Capstone project, including initiating the investigation, outreach to potential sponsors, drafting the application and proposal, coordinating transportation logistics, adhering to project progress deadlines, and delivering presentations to fellow Capstone participants and members of the community.
