Course Overview

The Business Management with Human Resource Management (Top-up) course is a one-year BSc (Hons) degree designed for those with relevant qualifications who are looking for an accelerated route to a degree. This course extends management skills and career choices through a specialism in human resource management (HRM).

Student Experience

This course is practice-focused and industry-relevant across a variety of organisational, cultural, and social settings. Students actively engage in working with peers and tutors in a face-to-face environment on real-life projects, case studies, and simulations. The course develops skills in research, analysis, and problem-solving, as well as sourcing, analysing, evaluating, and applying information to a range of complex situations.

  • Innovation and Entrepreneurship: Learn the skills and attributes required in the leadership, operation, and management of entrepreneurial organisations.
  • Data-Driven Business: Analyse data-collection trends, using tools suitable for quantitative and qualitative data analysis.

  • Contemporary Issues in the Workplace: The importance of people professionals in understanding and anticipating workforce needs, predicting changes, and promoting long-term engagement and growth.
  • Business Project: Independently design, plan, manage, and execute a research project.

Assessment

Assessment takes a variety of forms, including reports, portfolios, individual and collaborative tasks (individually assessed), research proposals, poster presentations, and exams. Many assessments tend to be focused on employability, thus tend to be based on live businesses, studies, project work, and other employability-focused activities.


Careers

This course opens up employment in all areas of business, particularly within HRM. Graduates may work for large multinational organisations or smaller organisations. There are also opportunities for further study at the postgraduate level, including MBAs with a HRM pathway, project management, IT management, and sustainable management.

The full-time standard undergraduate tuition fee for the Academic Year 2026/27 is £9,790 per year. Students can apply for a loan from the Government to help pay for tuition fees and a maintenance loan to cover living costs.


International

The full-time standard undergraduate tuition fee for the academic year 2025/26 is £16,900 per year. There are various scholarships available to support international students through their studies.


Scholarships

  • Excellence Scholarships: Worth £2,500 per year of study over three years for students who score a defined number of UCAS tariff points from specified qualifications.
  • Achievement Scholarships: Offering £500 per year of study for students with 120 UCAS tariff points.
