Progress into Employment and Training (PiET) Programme
Overview
The Progress into Employment and Training (PiET) programme was an EU-funded project designed to support individuals in Luton in gaining key skills sought by employers and in identifying and accessing available employment opportunities.
Eligibility Criteria
The programme was intended for:
- Individuals over 16 years old who were currently unemployed or considered inactive
- Individuals residing in specific Luton wards, including Farley, Biscot, Dallow, Lewsey, Leagrave, Sundon Park, Northwell, Round Green, High Town, South, and Crawley
- Those not supported by another European Social Fund (ESF) programme
- Individuals with permission to reside and work within the United Kingdom or Ireland, who could provide a valid ID document such as a UK Birth Certificate, European ID Card, British P60, Home Office Residence Permit, or Passport from the UK, EEA, or Switzerland
Programme Offerings
Participants in the PiET programme could expect:
- An initial telephone or face-to-face conversation to assess their opportunities
- Development of a mutually agreed plan for free training courses, such as Lean Six Sigma with the University of Bedfordshire or Digital Marketing training with partner organizations, offering skills companies are seeking without affecting benefit payments
- Identification of employment opportunities and options that match their skills and experience, along with guidance on how to successfully access these opportunities
