Public Health Program
The Public Health program is designed to provide students with the knowledge, values, and skills necessary to pursue a career in public health and healthcare services. This undergraduate pathway will give students the foundation needed to continue their studies on the Public Health degree or one of the registered Nursing degrees.

Our foundation course provides the knowledge, values, and skills students will need to succeed in public health and healthcare services. The program focuses on developing critical analysis and problem-solving skills, as well as introducing students to the core skills necessary to succeed in higher education.

Pathway Progression
Successful completion of this degree will lead to the award of the following from ARU: Public Health BSc (Hons) Chelmsford campus. UK or EU settled/pre-settled students may also apply for a degree in Operating Department Practice upon successful completion of the Foundation Year and attainment of Level 2 English.
Course Structure
The program includes the following modules:
- Learning to Learn: Designed to build on academic learning, life, and employability skills, ensuring students reach their full potential.
- Critical Thinking: Enables students to participate in and practice independent learning tasks for deeper thought and investigation.
- Core Maths: Ensures students have the necessary basic numeracy skills needed for university.
- Preparing for a Career in Caring: Provides a current snapshot of UK health and social care services and prepares students for their future in the health and social care sector.
- Ethics: Discusses the complexity of ethical theory and investigates the status of several major ethical theories and claims.
- Biology - Physiology: Studies the science of body function and its relation to the structure or anatomy of the organism.
- Psychology: Teaches students about the brain and psychosocial contexts within the humanities and sciences.
Admission Criteria
Students must complete the Foundation Year and meet the conditions of their offer to progress to the Public Health degree. Applications for professional degrees, such as Nursing or Operating Department Practice, require an interview, satisfactory DBS check, and occupational health assessment.

The Public Health program prepares students for a career in public health and healthcare services, with potential roles in nursing, cancer care, mental health, or other caring professions.
