Program Overview
Introduction to the Kitea Impact Programme
The Kitea Impact Programme is designed to help students make a positive impact in their local and global communities while gaining new leadership skills and connections. The programme is free, flexible, and open to all currently enrolled students.
Programme Themes
The programme consists of five key themes:
- LeadershipHauttanga: Learn about diverse leadership approaches through activities such as attending the Student Leadership Summit, stepping up to leadership roles, and participating in workshops.
- Global CitizenshipRaraunga o te Ao: Become a responsible global citizen by engaging with diverse cultures and perspectives through workshops, diplomatic dialogues, and international projects.
- CommunityHapori: Give back to the community through volunteering, mentoring, and supporting other students.
- SustainabilityToit ta Taiao: Act as a guardian of the environment by engaging in sustainable projects, joining the Piki Toit sustainability programme, and attending sustainability-focused workshops.
- Personal and Professional DevelopmentPuawaitanga: Identify career pathways and build networks beyond university through career-focused workshops, symposiums, and conferences.
Programme Structure
The programme is designed to be completed at the student's own pace alongside their academic study. Students can begin their journey with the Kitea Impact Introduction and explore at least one activity or workshop from each theme. The Kitea Impact Award can be completed in two trimesters or spread throughout their studies.
Recognition and Celebration
The Kitea Impact Award will be recognised on the student's academic transcript and celebrated at a Leadership Awards ceremony.
Partnering with the Kitea Impact Programme
The programme welcomes collaboration with community organisations, NGOs, social enterprises, government agencies, iwi, and industry partners working for social good. Partners can engage with students through guest speaking, co-facilitating workshops, recruiting volunteers, and sponsoring the programme.
