About This Course
This is a limited-entry course. The selection process involves submitting a Statement of Interest, CV, and an interview. It is graded on a Pass or Fail basis, with 100% internal assessment. Internship students will participate in 70-80 hours of unpaid work with a public sector agency, private sector establishment, or non-governmental organisation, with a focus on health and wellbeing. As well as the internship hours, students are also expected to attend four workshops and present their work at an end-of-trimester presentation. There will also be regular check-ins with their Victoria University supervisor.
Course Learning Objectives
Students who pass this course will be able to:
- Recognise and evaluate the personal and interpersonal skills necessary for transferring learning from the BHLth to a health-related workplace
- Describe and analyse the context of work in a public sector agency, private establishment, or non-governmental organisation that primarily focuses on health and wellbeing
- Reflect critically on both the applied and intellectual dimensions of the work experience
- Identify and critically appraise an organisational policy or practice in the context of health and wellbeing
How This Course Is Taught
There are four mandatory in-person workshops. Recordings will not be available.
Assessment
- Internship Proposal (1000 words): 25%
- Critical Reflection (700 words): 20%
- Final Report (1500 words, excluding references and work samples): 55%
Mandatory Requirements
To pass this course, students must:
- Successfully complete the assignments
- Complete 70-80 internship hours with the host organisation Students must also achieve an overall pass mark of at least 50%.

Students may incur costs in travelling to and from their internship placements, which they will have to cover themselves.
