OBU Rugby Academy
The OBU Rugby Academy is a partnership between Te Herenga Waka—Victoria University of Wellington and Old Boys University RFC. The academy's vision is to be the leading Rugby Academy that serves and gives back to the community of Aotearoa.
Our Programme
The high-performance rugby programme is designed with the athlete in mind, including fun interactive training for both male and female athletes in pursuit of excellence. The programme combines a love of education with a passion for rugby, leaving a legacy for the next generation.
The Academy's Rugby training programme runs from March to August, consisting of:
- Assessment—of current rugby skills and fitness
- Strength and conditioning—an individualised programme to improve body composition
- Technical—developing basic and position-specific rugby skills
- Tactical—understanding the game
- Personal development plans—group and individual off-field personalised training
Victoria University of Wellington and OBURFC Rugby Scholarships
These scholarships support academically capable rugby players studying at Te Herenga Waka—Victoria University of Wellington who intend to play for Old Boys' University Rugby Football Club (OBU). The scholarships are awarded to those with above-average rugby and academic ability, with preference given to applicants facing financial hardship or who demonstrate strong initiative.
