Study of Religion

The Study of Religion program provides students with a comprehensive education in the study of religion. The program focuses on the many different ways in which humanity has understood and practiced their religions, and how influential these remain for shaping our world today.


Program Overview

The Study of Religion program is one of the largest of its kind in Australasia and focuses on what makes religion relevant today. The program's staff teach and research on the big issues of human existence, including evil and salvation, violence and peace, environmental crisis and mortality, and the politics of ethical action.


Courses

The program offers a range of courses, including:


  • 100-level courses that introduce students to religious traditions, influential ideas about religion, and the roles religion plays in the contemporary world
  • 200-level and 300-level courses that focus on important themes in the study of religion, including salvation, death, community, politics, ecology, and the interpretation of religious texts

Events and Seminars
