Course Learning Objectives

Students who pass this course should be able to:


  1. Locate and evaluate information relevant to a research question or topic of investigation.
  2. Understand and appropriately apply the principles of te Tiriti o Waitangi and the Vision Mātauranga to a research project.
  3. Undertake a methodologically appropriate review or study of a subject relevant to health and wellbeing.
  4. Prepare a report to the professional standard of the health industry.

How This Course Is Taught

Students work under supervision to develop and conduct a small research project. The project focuses on improving or solving an issue in health and wellbeing. Regular group tutorials/supervisions are offered throughout the course to support project development.

  • Research Project Plan: Individual, 20%
  • Oral Presentation: Individual, 20%
  • Research Report: Individual, 60%
