About This Course
LAND 211 is the first specifically landscape architecture design course. It aims to introduce students to the main concerns of landscape architecture, encouraging them to develop a critical attitude towards their work and the discipline. The course is divided into three parts, focusing on analysis techniques, design strategies, planting design, and a design project where previous tools and concepts are applied.
Course Learning Objectives
Students who pass this course should be able to:
- Explore the landscape conditions of a site.
- Produce design outcomes that respond to a site.
- Visually and verbally present site design outcomes.
How This Course Is Taught
- Delivery: On-campus at Te Aro Campus.
- Lectures and Tutorials: Delivered in-person, with lectures recorded via Zoom for subsequent revision.
- Field Trips: Require in-person attendance.
- Studio Time: 2 x 3-hour studio-based teaching per week, including site visits.
- Assignments: Briefs will be given at the beginning of each assignment, outlining required tasks, objectives, and methodologies.
