Course Objectives
Students who pass this course should be able to:
- Identify design potential of a situation within spatial and legislative contexts
- Test site and contextual issues through design development
- Communicate the design investigation and outcomes verbally and graphically with a variety of media
- Integrate technical knowledge
How the Course is Taught
- Lectures and tutorials are delivered in-person only
- Lecture recordings will be made available for subsequent revision
- Field trips require in-person attendance at specified times and locations
- Teaching and learning will be delivered through 2 x 4-hour sessions per week, including studio-based and seminar sessions, and site visits
- Students are expected to work on assignments with tutors individually or in groups

- Design Analysis Output: Analytical, Community & Design Investigation (expected workload: 60 hours outside of class time) - 30%
- Design Investigations: Plan(s), sketches, text, and diagram(s) (expected workload: 40 hours outside of class time) - 20%
- Design Competition and Associated Components: Plan(s), section(s), perspectives diagrams (expected workload: 100 hours outside of class time) - 50%
