About This Course
This course explores how culture is expressed in different linguistic and cultural contexts, considering cultures as both local and global phenomena through critical and theoretical perspectives and close analysis. It is taught in synchronous delivery, both in person and recorded live on Zoom.
Course Learning Objectives
Students who pass this course should be able to:
- Critically engage with cultural texts in relation to their sociohistorical contexts
- Apply methodological and analytical skills in research on cultures as local and global phenomena
- Formulate and communicate arguments about the development and evolution of cultural texts
- Demonstrate a nuanced and critically informed understanding of cultures as local and global phenomena
How This Course Is Taught
The course consists of 12 x 2-hour weekly workshops taught in synchronous delivery: in person and video recorded live on Zoom. Video recordings will be uploaded to the Vstream Videos folder on the Canvas page within 24 hours.
Assessment
- Critical Reflections Portfolio: 50%
- 1 x 5-10 minute Multimodal Presentation: 50%
