Course Learning Objectives

Students who pass this course will be able to:


  1. Critically analyse the strategic role of people management policies and practices in supporting policy and organisational goals within the public sector.
  2. Demonstrate advanced knowledge of theory and evidence regarding organisational forms and behaviours, recruitment and selection, performance appraisal, rewards, learning and development, diversity management, and employee relations.
  3. Recognise future challenges in public sector people management arising from the emergence of public governance reforms, globalisation, and technological change, and propose responses.
  4. Apply various models, concepts, strategies, and analytical frameworks in people management practice and research.
