Course Overview
The course examines the conceptual and physical building blocks of current digital platforms, including distributed, mobile, pervasive, and cloud solutions. It describes how the internet is used as a platform for developing business applications and uses practical technologies to enable students to model and design IT architectures from a business perspective.

Course Objectives
Students who pass this course should be able to:
- Explain the role and structure of digital technology in platform-oriented organizations and business models.
- Describe digital platforms as sociotechnical enablers for employees, customers, and citizens, regardless of geography.
- Evaluate and critique digital platform scenarios to explain principles of the platform organization.
- Categorize technology options in terms of organizational benefits and opportunities.
Teaching Method
The course uses a blend of face-to-face, readings, and online materials. Students are expected to have reviewed the online material and readings related to the topics for the week and come to class equipped to participate in class discussions and activities.
