Course Overview
The course International Strategies for Business Growth (IBUS 305) provides deeper knowledge of the various mechanisms, capabilities, and structures required to facilitate business growth in international markets. Students examine strategies for gaining global competitive advantage, including global competency development, and international alliances, mergers, and acquisitions.

About This Course
To be successful in the global market, firms need to develop an effective strategy. This course provides an understanding of frameworks and concepts in strategic management with a focus on global competition, collaborations, and corporate governance. Topics include internal organisational analysis, competitive behaviour, mergers, acquisitions, and alliances.
Course Learning Objectives
Students who pass this course should be able to:
- Explain and interpret the key elements of international business strategies
- Apply international business-related frameworks, tools, and methods
- Consider alternative solutions to international business strategy and organisational structure, and their implementation
- Assess the effectiveness of certain strategies and organisational structures in different environments
How This Course Is Taught
This course is optimised for on-campus learning, and students are encouraged to participate in learning activities synchronously. Lectures will be recorded. Students are expected to read suggested chapters before class and actively participate in discussions and other forms of activity during class. Tutorials are available face-to-face with at least one Zoom option. Students are required to be on campus to complete this course.

- Take-home Case Study Test (1500 words): 30%
- Individual Assignment 1 - Critical Analysis (1000 words): 20%
- Individual Assignment 2a - Video Presentation (video length: 8 minutes): 20%
- Individual Assignment 2b - Essay (1500 words): 30%
