Course Objectives

Students who pass this course should be able to deeply explore a topic and project that interests them under the supervision of an academic(s) or an academic and industry supervisor, showcasing the skills learned during their degree and demonstrating independent and critical thinking.


How the Course is Taught

  • A schedule of lecture topics will be available online.
  • Regular meetings will be held nearly every week in consultation with the supervisor.
  • The course is designed for in-person study, with most assessment items, tutorials, seminars, labs, and workshops available only in person.

Assessment

  • Preliminary Report: Approximately 10 pages, worth up to 20% of the final grade
  • Final Report and Presentation: Worth 80% of the final grade
  • Mandatory Requirements:
    • Deliver the final presentation
    • Submit both the preliminary and final reports
    • Maintain a current copy of all work on University-approved storage systems

Group Work

Team projects are permitted where appropriate, with all reporting items to be individually prepared and each student doing a distinct part of the project.
