The course MMPA 531CA: Risk and Technology is designed to analyze how businesses create and protect stakeholder value with a focus on risk management, data, and technology.

Course Objectives

Students who pass this course will be able to:

1. Apply risk management frameworks to address risks affecting an organisation
2. Evaluate and communicate the results of data analyses presented in a range of formats, to provide relevant information for decision making
3. Evaluate existing and emerging technology solutions to meet business objectives and strategy
4. Apply critical thinking skills to generate solutions to authentic business problems

How This Course is Taught

• Lectures can be accessed synchronously (live-stream) through Zoom
• Due to the nature of some course material, some lectures may be online only (via Zoom)
• Note: For 2026, the class will be on a Wednesday from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm
• There will be four 3-hour workshops and a 1-hour introductory class
• All lectures will be recorded and available on NUKU throughout the course
• There are no assessments requiring in-person attendance

Assessment

• Assessment 1: Week 5, Type: Individual, Mark: 40%
• Assessment 2: Week 9, Type: Individual, Mark: 60%

To pass this course, students must:

1. Complete all assessments
2. Pass the final assessment
