Program Overview

The SCSK 588 program is a selective course offered by the School of Medicine, focusing on Tai Chi and Qigong for the prevention and treatment of chronic conditions at an advanced level.


Program Objectives

By the end of the selective, students will be able to:


  • Create a treatment plan for case patients suffering from a chronic ailment utilizing Tai Chi and Qigong.
  • Explain the scientific basis for how Tai Chi and Qigong are effective as prevention to rehabilitation.
  • Describe the philosophical and historical foundation of Tai Chi and Qigong.

Program Structure

The selective consists of:


  • 10 hours of workshop training on Zoom, spread over a 10-week period, with 1 hour of training per week.
  • 10 hours of self-study and practice, also spread over a 10-week period, with 1 hour of self-study and practice per week.
