Program Overview

Introduction to Engage at Gray's

Engage at Gray's is a creative development programme designed at Gray's School of Art and delivered in purpose-built studios and workshops. The programme was introduced in November 2022 and is currently being developed in response to public feedback.

Program Components

The creative development programme involves several key components:

• Art Weekenders: Weekend workshops that bring together creatives to experience a range of different disciplines and delivery methods across the Art School.
• Evening Workshops: Delivered by local creative practitioners, these workshops support both beginners' interests in art and design, alongside continued professional development for those seeking to enhance their skillsets and expertise.
• A Week in the Life of Art School: A five-day interactive programme for senior pupils from schools across North East Scotland, aiming to support the transition from school to university and provide a practical insight into what students experience in their first year of study at Gray's School of Art.

Art Weekenders

Art Weekenders give participants the chance to learn and work in the studios and workshops over one or two days during the weekend. With the support and guidance of creative practitioners spanning multiple disciplines, these weekends offer a variety of subjects and methods for participants to explore, from ceramics to printing. Participants build on their existing knowledge and understanding of art practice through integrated class demonstrations, individual and group discussions, and studio-based practice.
