Program Overview


Dual Degree Physical Therapy/Athletic Training

The Dual Degree Doctor of Physical Therapy/Athletic Training program is designed to provide students with a comprehensive education in both physical therapy and athletic training.


Application Information

Applications for the Dual Degree DPT/MS AT program must be submitted through the Physical Therapy Centralized Application System and Shenandoah's dual degree supplemental application. The application deadline for the start term Summer I (May) 2026 is:


  • PTCAS Application: October 1, 2025
  • Supplemental Application: November 1, 2025

Application Steps

To apply for the MSAT/DPT dual degree program, students must complete the following steps:


  • Submit a PTCAS application by October 1, 2025
  • Complete Shenandoah's Dual Degree Supplemental Application, selecting "I am an applicant in PTCAS, also applying to the MSAT program" and "Athletic Training MS" as the program of study
  • Submit a list of Athletic Training Experiences, including all sports participated in as an athlete, coach, referee, manager, or athletic training student
  • Provide one Athletic Training Recommendation Letter from a certified athletic trainer, coach, employer, or professor
  • Submit an essay (3-5 pages, double-spaced) answering questions about interests in attending SU for the Dual AT/PT degree, qualities that set the applicant apart, and career goals upon completion of the dual degree
