Purdue University Northwest's artificial intelligence (AI) concentration program offers a cutting-edge, interdisciplinary curriculum that delves into the world of AI. Artificial Intelligence Concentration Curriculum
You will focus on cutting-edge AI technologies through courses that integrate machine learning, data analytics, and computational intelligence. You will also take a balance of general education courses and College of Engineering and Sciences core courses.
Course of Study
The program is divided into four years:
- Year One: Build your foundation for success in computer science with courses such as:
- CS 12400 – Programming II: Object-Oriented Java
- CS 12600 – Systems Programming In C
- MA 16400 – Integrated Calculus Analysis Geometry II
- Year Two: Prepare to build a strong foundation in computer science while learning to responsibly use technologies, including AI development, with courses such as:
- Phil 32100 – Engineering Ethics
- CS 27500 – Data Structure
- CS 30200 – Operating Systems
- Year Three: Learn advanced problem-solving skills and explore focused areas of computer science with courses such as:
- CS 46200 – Introduction to Artificial Intelligence
- CS 41600 – Software Engineering
- CS 33200 – Algorithms
- Year Four: Explore fundamental AI theory and technologies including statistical computing, human-robot interaction, and machine learning/data mining, with courses such as:
- STA 40001 – Statistical Computing

Concentration Requirements
- 120 Credit Hours
- Minimum grade of C required for all major core courses and concentration courses
- Minimum GPA of 2.0 required for graduation
