• Justification: New major in Sports Management being created for the College of Business
• Course Description:
  • Arrangement of multi-purpose facilities for efficient use of space.
  • Design based upon safe established work flow patterns.
  • Operation and maintenance of the physical plant within engineering standards for peak performance and longevity.
• Credit hours: 3.0
• Prerequisites: Junior Standing

Course Objectives / Learning Outcomes

1. Students completing this course will exhibit knowledge gained and learn to master the diversity of the facilities necessary in the Sports industry, which will be accomplished by successful completion of all exams with a "C" or above and passing reports on each of the three site visit evaluations for three differently designed and sized athletic facilities.
2. Students will be able to define and describe knowledge gained on the importance of design, layout, safety standards, work flow patterns, operations and efficient maintenance of facilities, by successful preparation and presentation of a facilities design full class project encompassing all segments of facility design and management.
3. Students will be able to use this facilities and design course to learn the principles of multi-purpose spaces and smaller remodeling projects of existing facilities options by passing assessments and also preparing three individual passing mini-proposals to remodel for three different Sports Management industry segments.
