Finance Certificate Program

The Finance Certificate program at St. Thomas Aquinas College is designed for working professionals and can be completed entirely online in one year. The program is offered quarterly in 9-week sessions, allowing students to start in September, December, March, or June and maximize their time.

Program Overview

The advanced certificate in Finance develops a deep understanding of financial decision making and advanced methods of financial analysis. Students build their skill set in financial planning and leadership and explore ethical practices and policies that impact global economies. The program prepares students for the corporate challenges of the modern world through interactive case studies.

Curriculum

The program consists of:

• 12 credits selected from:
  • Corporate Finance (GMBA 1201)
  • Financial Institutions & Capital Markets (GMBA 1203)
  • Global Finance (GMBA 1204)
  • Mergers & Acquisitions (GMBA 1205)
  • Capital Budgeting (GMBA 1206)
  • Quantitative Finance & Forecasting (GMBA 1207)
  • Commercial Banking (GMBA 1208)
• 3 credits selected from any of the business concentration areas

Prerequisites

Certain courses have prerequisites, including:

• GMBA 1105 Managerial Finance for GMBA 1201 Corporate Finance
• GMBA 1201 Corporate Finance for GMBA 1203 Financial Institutions & Capital Markets, GMBA 1205 Mergers & Acquisitions, and GMBA 1206 Capital Budgeting
• GMBA 1202 Investment Analysis for GMBA 1207 Quantitative Finance & Forecasting
• GMBA 1203 Financial Institutions & Capital Markets for GMBA 1208 Commercial Banking

Program Details

• The program is 15 credits.
• It can be completed online.
• Completion time is as few as 12 months.
• The tuition is under $10,000.

Admission Criteria

Applicants must have:

• A bachelor's degree from an accredited undergraduate institution.
• A minimum of a 2.8 grade point average, based on a 4.0 scale.
• For international applicants, a transcript evaluation completed by a current member of NACES may be required, and TOEFL scores may be necessary for some applicants.
