The Bachelor of Arts & Science/Medical Sciences: Trent/Swansea Dual Degree is a unique program that provides students with a guaranteed interview with Swansea's prestigious School of Medicine. This integrated dual degree program allows students to earn both a Bachelor of Arts & Science (B.A.S.) and an Honours Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in just four years.

Program Description

The program is designed to broaden students' areas of expertise as they spend their first two years exploring a range of scientific, social, and humanist theories and issues at Trent. Students will then head to the UK to complete a B.Sc. Honours degree at Swansea University in one of their dedicated medical pathway programs. This program is an ideal pathway to becoming a well-rounded and competitive candidate for medical school.

Career Experience

The program includes experiential learning opportunities where students will get hands-on professional experience in their field of study. Featured experiences include:

• Building knowledge base taking courses spanning biology, chemistry, psychology, Indigenous studies, gender and social justice, as well as other science, social science, and humanities subjects at Trent
• Putting theory into practice through lab courses, lectures, and seminars at Trent and Swansea to develop technical skills, critical thinking, good judgement, and other valuable attributes for being a doctor
• Refining expertise in medicine through Swansea University's medical-focused Bachelor of Science programs, including Applied Medical Sciences, Medical Genetics, Medical Pharmacology, and Population Health
• Volunteering, joining a club, or participating in other extracurricular activities at Trent and Swansea to develop interpersonal skills or gain career-related experience, useful for applications to professional or graduate programs

Admissions

The general admission requirements for students coming straight from high school in Ontario or recent grads are:

• Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD)
• A minimum of six Grade 12 4U or 4M courses, including program-specific prerequisites
• A minimum 70% overall final average
• ENG 4U with a minimum of 60%
• Program-specific requirements: A minimum 80% overall final average

Scholarships

Trent University believes in rewarding academic excellence. All students are automatically considered for entrance scholarships based on their academic achievement – no application required. Canadian students entering with an average of 95%+ earn full tuition. 80% or higher? You qualify for scholarships valued at over $18,000, with recipients of the most prestigious scholarships earning up to $30,000 over four years. International students are eligible for scholarships valued at up to $12,000 over four years, renewable annually throughout their degree.
