New Travel AQ Course Summer 2027
Trent University is excited to announce a brand-new travel AQ course, partnering with G/Hardy Tours to offer a unique Experiential Learning Journey and Additional Qualification (AQ) course in Sicily and Malta in July 2027. This opportunity is open to educators, their friends, and family members, even if they are not enrolling in the AQ course.
Course Description
The course is rooted in the mission of Catholic education and combines online learning with an immersive, guided study tour abroad. This unique approach allows participants to deepen their understanding of the Catholic faith through both academic study and lived experience. The course offers a multi-day experiential learning journey abroad to Sicily and Malta, where participants will explore the rich historical, cultural, and spiritual heritage of the Catholic tradition.
Guided by course facilitators, candidates will visit significant religious sites, engage in prayer and reflection, and participate in discussions that connect these experiences to contemporary Catholic education. This pilgrimage-style component fosters a profound sense of community and spiritual growth, setting the stage for meaningful learning throughout the course. Following the study tour, participants will continue their learning through interactive online modules.
These sessions provide a balance of theory and practice, examining key dimensions of Catholic education, including:
- Scripture and its application in the classroom
- Catholic Social Teaching and the call to justice
- The role of prayer, sacrament, and spiritual leadership in building faith communities
Candidates will develop practical strategies to engage students in experiences of prayer, service, and Gospel living.
Accreditation
This course is accredited by the Ontario College of Teachers.
