Introduction to the Keigwin School of Nursing Simulation Training and Research Center
The Keigwin School of Nursing (KSON) Simulation Training and Research (STAR) Center, located at the Jacksonville University, Brooks Rehabilitation College of Healthcare Sciences, is dedicated to providing a student-centered, positive learning environment. This environment enables students to apply theoretical knowledge through practical skills, cultivating clinical reasoning and judgment.
Program Overview
The Clinical Skills and Simulation Laboratories promote safe and quality patient care, inter-disciplinary collaboration, and effective communication through experiential learning and goal-directed training. With over 3,000 square feet of simulated clinical environment, the labs are staffed by a team of clinical experts. These experts are dedicated and passionate about equipping students with the knowledge, skills, and attitudes necessary to build a competent and confident professional identity.
Course Offerings
The STAR Center offers various courses, including:
- BLS + Stop the Bleed Courses
- Scheduled on specific dates, including Wednesday, 3/4/26, from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., and Monday, 4/6/26, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
- ACLS Day 1 and Day 2
- Scheduled for Monday and Tuesday, 04/27 - 04/28, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- American Heart Association (AHA) courses
- Focus on performing CPR and other basic and advanced cardiovascular life support skills.
