Program Overview
The Educational Leadership concentration program is a part-time only program that does not qualify for a student visa.
Application Deadline
Admission decisions are made on a rolling basis. All applications submitted by the below deadlines will be considered for the corresponding semester. Applicants who wish to be considered for State Scholarships (GSS) should apply by February 1 to have full consideration.
- For Spring admission: December 1
- For Summer admission: April 1
- For Fall admission: July 15
Program Begins
The program begins in Spring and Fall.
Transcripts
Unofficial transcripts from all post-secondary institutions should be uploaded with the electronic application and may be used for departmental admission review purposes. If offered admission, official transcripts from any institution from which a degree has been awarded must be submitted to finalize admission.
Required by Program
- Resume
- Personal statement regarding professional goals and how the new degree or additional credential will assist in meeting these goals
- Two letters of recommendation, one of which should be from a school administrator
- Collegiate Professional License required
- Applicants should have an undergraduate GPA of 2.75 or better, hold or have held a valid teaching license or provide documentation of professional employment in the field, and have three years of full-time teaching (or equivalent) experience in a school setting.
Licensure/Certification
This concentration meets the educational requirements for licensure or certification in the Commonwealth of Virginia. While it might meet requirements in other U.S. states or territories, there are no guarantees or promises that it does.
International Applicants
International applicants must have a Virginia Teaching License before applying to this program. If studied outside of the USA, a credential evaluation of non-U.S. college or university degrees and transcripts is required. The Educational Leadership (M.Ed.) concentration does not qualify for a student visa.
