Program Overview


Program Overview

The university program is a cross-cultural study experience designed for marketing majors who want to learn consumer behavior and services marketing in a global context.


Location

The program will take place in various locations, including:


  • Bodrum, Turkey
  • Kalymnos, Greece
  • Leros, Greece
  • Leipsoi, Greece
  • Patmos, Greece
  • Kos, Greece

Program Description

Before departing, students will attend and complete coursework starting in April 2026. The program will then depart for a yacht excursion to the Greek Islands, followed by a stay in Bodrum, Turkey. The program will complete after three weeks abroad.


Location Description

The first week of the program will take place in several Greek islands, while the last two weeks will be spent in Bodrum, Turkey. Students will conduct on-site visits to various businesses, including shipyards, fisheries, hotels, resorts, restaurants, wineries, and breweries. This will provide an opportunity to compare and contrast consumer behavior and service marketing practices in Greece and Turkey.

Accommodations

In Turkey, students will be provided with furnished hotel rooms that have internet access, full kitchen, and laundry facilities. In Greece, students will stay on a yacht with 2-3 students per cabin. Meals will be provided, with a weekly meal stipend in Turkey and breakfast and lunch on the yacht in Greece.


Additional Items to Consider

75-minute in-person class meetings will be scheduled twice a week starting in April 2026 to review course materials prior to departure.


Applicant Criteria

Applicants must:


  • Have a minimum GPA of 2.0
  • Be sophomore, junior, or senior COB majors
  • Have successfully completed COB 300 before departure
  • Be JMU students only
