Introduction to Momentum

Momentum is a pre-college program designed for students entering grades 9-10 to explore various disciplines and career pathways while building skills for the future. This commuter/day program offers early high school students the chance to engage with like-minded peers and discover their potential in a collaborative and creative environment.

• Program Type: Commuter OR Residential.
• Tuition Costs: $699 for commuters and $1,699 for residential students.

Interdisciplinary Courses

Participants will choose one of the following academic courses, each combining different programs at Wentworth to give students a chance to explore various majors through an interdisciplinary approach.

• Art and Science of Creating: Engineering + Designing Tomorrow's Products
  • This program merges engineering and design principles, offering a comprehensive introduction to product development.
  • Participants will learn about the creative processes that drive innovation, preparing them to shape the future of product design.
  • Exposed Majors: Business Management, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Design, and Mechanical Engineering.
• Connected Care: Technology in Human Health
  • This program explores the transformative impact of technology in the healthcare industry.
  • Participants will examine innovations and intersections between science and engineering, understanding how technology enhances patient outcomes and experiences.
  • Exposed Majors: Applied Sciences, Biological Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Computer Science and Society, and Cybersecurity.
• Digital Impact: Pathways in Computing
  • This program introduces the exciting world of computing, from computer science to the ethical impacts of artificial intelligence.
  • Participants will explore different computing pathways, learning how technology can be harnessed for positive change in society.
  • Exposed Majors: Applied Math, Computer Information Systems, Computer Science, Computer Science and Society, Computer Engineering, Cybersecurity, Data Science, and Information Technology.
• Engineering for Humanity: Making the World a Better Place
  • This program discovers how diverse engineering disciplines contribute to solving global challenges and improving lives.
  • Participants will gain valuable insights into diverse engineering disciplines and discover how their work shapes and enhances communities.

• What kind of learning experience can students expect?
  • Students will experience hands-on learning activities, collaborative projects, and exposure to real-world applications of the subjects they explore.
• What steps do I need to take to secure my student's spot in the program?
  • Registration is live; to reserve a spot, follow the instructions on the registration portal. Full payment of the program fees will be collected at the time of registration.
• How many spots are available in each course?
  • Each interdisciplinary course will have 20 spots available. Once a course has reached capacity, a waitlist (up to 10) will be accepted.
• How will pick-up and drop-off work?
  • Drop-off is between 7:30 - 8:30 AM, and pick-up time is at 5:00 PM, taking place on Wentworth's campus in the parking lot.
• What should students bring during the program?
  • Any materials related to the course will be provided. Students are recommended to bring a computer/tablet (if accessible), a small notebook, a pencil/pen, a refillable water bottle, and a sweatshirt/jacket.
