Introduction to the Psychology Program

The Psychology program at Ohio Dominican University prepares graduates who are grounded in the liberal arts tradition and well-versed in the science and application of psychology across multiple domains in the field.

Degrees and Courses

The program offers a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and a minor in Psychology. Students explore psychological, biological, and environmental influences on behavior as these relate to human development, motivation, thinking and memory, learning, personality, social relationships, psychological disorders, and counseling.

Outcomes and Careers

Graduates are prepared to enter the workforce in a number of fields, including social services, education, and business. Psychology graduates work in a variety of areas related to mental health and social services. Businesses employ psychology graduates in human resources, marketing, public relations, and sales positions. Psychology majors may also choose to continue their studies in graduate school.

Internships

Ohio Dominican is just minutes from downtown Columbus, where students have the opportunity to participate in one or more internships with a variety of companies and organizations. Central Ohio enjoys a diverse economy with many internship possibilities in the public, private, and non-profit sectors. Ohio Dominican's faculty and Career Development Center are eager to help interested students secure relevant internship experiences.

Student Organizations

• Psi Chi: The International Honor Society in Psychology, which supports and rewards excellence in scholarship and the advancement of the science of psychology.
• Psychology Club: Provides a variety of opportunities for students interested in the field of psychology, including on-campus lectures, group activities, and empirical research projects.

Professional Affiliations

ODU's Psychology curriculum is aligned with the American Psychology Association guidelines for quality undergraduate programming. ODU is a member of the Ohio Psychological Association's Small College Roundtable.
