Bachelor of Applied Technology

The Bachelor of Applied Technology degree is specifically designed for students who have earned a technically oriented Associate of Applied Science degree from an accredited institution. The program allows students to build on that curriculum to earn their four-year Bachelor of Applied Science.

Program Description

Hands-on skills, real-world skills. Build on your associate's degree to advance your future with a bachelor's degree in applied technology. Faculty advisors will work with you to identify areas of specialization in your chosen discipline and even help connect you to employers in the region.

• Career opportunities will vary considerably for this program as it is designed to qualify students to advance into technical management roles with appropriate work experience. Entry-level positions will vary based on AAS degree obtained and electives chosen.

Your Path. Your Impact.

As you pursue your applied technology degree, you'll be equipped to enter into technical management roles, but your electives will often prepare you for field of entry. You'll complete a minimum of 120 credit hours to complete this degree, including the general education requirements and at least 39 senior division hours.

General Education Requirements

Some requirements may be fulfilled by coursework in major program.

• Social and Behavioral Sciences – 6 hours
• Constitution Requirement – 3 hours
• Written Communication – 6 hours
• Oral Communication – 3 hours
• Natural Sciences – 7 hours (from two disciplines, one to include a lab)
• Mathematics – 3 hours
• Humanities & Fine Arts – 9 hours (from at least two disciplines)
• Additional requirements – 5 hours (to include UI100 for native students)
• Civics examination

Notes

• Admission to this program requires an earned AAS degree.
• Work with an advisor to determine electives. The prerequisites for the upper-level electives must be completed through a combination of these courses and courses taken during the AAS degree program.
• Technical electives are typically courses with prefixes of CM, ET, FM, GM, IE, IM, MN, PG, or TN
• Some upper level electives may require additional courses as prerequisites beyond what is shown here.

Degree Requirements

Degree requirements for all students: a minimum of 120 credit hours, completion of the General Education program, and completion of 39 senior division hours (300-599). Refer to the Undergraduate Bulletin or Degree Works for additional graduation requirements for your program.

A minimum 2.00 GPA in the major and overall are required to graduate with a BAS degree.

Many major courses are on a set rotation and dependent on when prerequisites are completed. The actual semester a course is taken may vary based on the rotation.
