Program Overview

The Bachelor of Science in Medical Laboratory Science is a comprehensive program that equips students with the knowledge and skills to apply terminology, concepts, theories, and techniques of analytical, inorganic, organic, and physical chemistry and biochemistry to solve discipline-appropriate problems.

Student Outcomes

Upon completion of the program, students will be able to:

• Apply terminology, concepts, theories, and techniques of analytical, inorganic, organic, and physical chemistry and biochemistry to solve discipline-appropriate problems
• Follow departmental chemical hygiene and safety regulations and know chemical safety principles
• Successfully complete the MLS certification exam taken through the clinical program

The program is designed to map student outcomes to specific classes, with assessment cycles and course measures in place to ensure student success. The program includes courses such as:

• CH271: Specific final exam questions based on solving discipline-appropriate problems (Fall semesters)
• CH343: Specific final exam questions based on solving discipline-appropriate problems (Spring semesters)
• CH531: Specific final exam questions based on solving discipline-appropriate problems (Fall semesters)
• Chemical safety quizzes in CH271 (Fall semesters) and CH342 (Spring semesters)

Assessment and Evaluation

Student success is evaluated through various assessments, including:

• Results of the NAACLs certification exam (Spring semesters)
• Successful completion of all MT courses (Spring semesters)
