The Graduate Entry Medicine (GEM) program at the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (RCSI) is a four-year program that leads to the award of the degree of MB, BCh, BAO (Hons).

Fees and Funding

All applicants to RCSI's GEM program are categorized as either EU or Non-EU, depending on whether they meet the EU applicant criteria. The fees for the program are as follows:

• EU GEM Tuition Fees: 15,080 (for the 2025/26 academic year)
• Student Contribution Charge: 1,000
• IT Fee: 475
• Health Screening (once-off charge): 380
• NUI Fee (once-off charge): 135
• Total Fees (for academic year 2025/26): 17,070
• Non-EU GEM Tuition Fees: 62,500 (for the 2026/27 academic year)
• NUI Fee (once-off charge): 135
• Total Fees (for academic year 2026/27): 62,635

Scholarships

There are two scholarships available to GEM students:

• EU Scholarship: The Ireland Healthcare Aim High Graduate Entry Medicine Access Scholarship is available to EU students who are applying to the GEM program via the CAO and who entered their first undergraduate degree via the HEAR scheme.
• Non-EU Scholarship: The International Consilio Manuque Medicine Scholarship is available to Non-EU students who have an offer to join RCSI's GEM program and who are self-funded.

Fee Payment

The fee payment process for the GEM program is as follows:

• Incoming Students (first year only): A minimum of 50% of fees are due prior to registration, with the balance due by 31 January.
• Returning Students (from second year onwards): In subsequent years, 50% of fees are due prior to the start of the academic year and the balance is due by 31 January.
• Fee Payment Methods: Fees are normally paid by electronic funds transfer.
