Introduction to the DNP Program
The Nursing Graduate Programs at Walsh University prepare advanced generalist nurses to assume leadership positions in a variety of roles. The program philosophy emphasizes providing an environment that stimulates learners to think critically, communicate effectively, and act compassionately.
Program Overview
The DNP curriculum builds on traditional MSN program content by providing education in evidence-based practice, quality improvement, and systems leadership, as well as relevant content in other key areas. Each student is challenged to develop the skills and knowledge necessary to meet client needs in a variety of healthcare settings.
DNP - Women's Reproductive Health Track
Students in the PM DNP Women's Reproductive Health program will apply specialized knowledge in cycle charting and ovulatory patterns to provide reproductive and gynecologic healthcare to women from puberty to menopause, in alignment with the teachings of the Catholic Church.

- Provide excellence in nursing education grounded in the human experience
- Prepare graduates to practice nursing within the framework of Judeo-Christian values promoting health in diverse communities
DNP Program Outcomes
Graduates will be able to:
- Practice at the highest level of clinical nursing by integrating and applying knowledge from the sciences within the fields of organizational management, ethics, health policy, and information technology
- Demonstrate leadership skills in organizational and health systems management to improve the safety and quality of healthcare
- Apply analytical skills and translational science methodologies to practice-focused scholarship
- Provide leadership in interdisciplinary collaborative teams to improve health outcomes for individuals, populations, and systems
- Utilize strategies of risk reduction, illness prevention, health promotion, and health maintenance for individuals and populations
- Develop skills in the analysis and shaping of healthcare policy that supports health
- Demonstrate skill in the application of ethical decision-making frameworks to resolve ethical dilemmas
DNP - Women's Reproductive Health Track Outcomes
Graduates will be able to:
- Demonstrate expertise in advanced practice nursing through mastery of specialized areas of knowledge relative to women's reproductive health
- Integrate professional, legal, moral, and ethical standards in the care of patients within the practice of women's reproductive health
- Demonstrate advanced knowledge of Women's Reproductive Health culminating in certification as a Fertility Education and Medical Management (FEMM) Medical Provider
Global Experience
While enrolled in the program, students may participate in the Byers School of Nursing's global experiences.
Admission Requirements
To be eligible for the DNP - Women's Reproductive Health program, applicants must:
- Hold a current unencumbered Registered Nurse license(s) with RN licensure in Georgia and Alabama required
- Have current certification and licensure as a Family Nurse Practitioner, Women's Health Nurse Practitioner, or Nurse Midwife
- Provide official transcripts documenting a baccalaureate degree and master's degree in Nursing from a program accredited by a national organization responsible for nursing accreditation
- Have a minimum 3.0 cumulative grade point average on a 4.0 scale on all undergraduate and graduate coursework
- Complete a 3 credit undergraduate or graduate Statistics course with an earned grade of B or above
- Submit two professional letters of recommendation supporting the applicant's potential for success in the Doctoral program
- Provide a resume or CV with application that includes work experience, educational, leadership, and professional organization activities, and scholarly activities
- Submit an essay/personal statement of a maximum of 1000 words addressing personal and professional reasons for seeking the Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) role
