The Class 1 Mandatory Entry-Level Training (MELT) program is a comprehensive course designed for individuals seeking a B.C. Class 1 commercial truck driver's license. This program prepares participants for the Class 1 licensing process through a combination of theory-based learning and practical driving experience.

Admission Criteria

To be eligible for the program, applicants must meet the following requirements:


  • Minimum age: 19 years
  • Valid non-probationary driver's license (Class 5 or equivalent)
  • Meet medical fitness requirements for Class 1 licensing
  • Pass vision tests
  • Demonstrate proficiency in English
