Career Ambassadors Program
The Career Ambassadors program is designed to promote the Career and Experiential Learning Department through various activities such as class visits, presentations, information sessions, events, and peer-to-peer support.
Benefits of Being a Career Ambassador
Being a career ambassador provides students with the opportunity to gain or develop skills and experience in:
- Communication, leadership, teambuilding, and networking
- Event planning and project management
- Research and marketing
- Career and professional development
- Personal branding and professional presence
Career ambassadors also have the chance to connect with career development advisors, faculty members, alumni, peers, and industry representatives during events like the TRU Job Fair.
Responsibilities
As a career ambassador, responsibilities include:
- Representing the Career and Experiential Learning Department by promoting events, services, and resources
- Contributing to creating marketing materials and promotional strategies to engage students of all years and programs
- Collaborating with student associations to organize events or promotional efforts
- Providing ideas and feedback to the Career and Experiential Learning Department regarding students' needs and requests for services and programs
- Supporting the collection of data and data entry
- Delivering short in-class presentations to promote the Career and Experiential Learning Department and its programs
- Attending various internal events and tabling to provide support to staff and faculty
- Attending team meetings and training as scheduled
- Assisting with recruiting and training new ambassadors
Eligibility
To be eligible for the Career Ambassadors program, students must:
- Be enrolled as a student in good standing for fall and winter semesters
- Be available four hours per week
- Be interested and committed to advancing the Career and Experiential Learning Department's mission
- Have enthusiasm for career/professional development and supporting peers to discover and meet their potential
- Possess research skills and proactive curiosity
- Demonstrate strong communication skills (written and verbal) including public speaking
- Exercise professionalism, leadership, and accountability
- Have the ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team
- Possess strong judgement, time management, and problem-solving skills
- Be reliable and punctual
Application Process
Although the application process for the 2024/2025 academic year is closed, students can expect to fill out the Career Ambassador Application Form and submit it via email during the next application period in Spring 2025.
