Program Overview
Course Overview
The Connecting with Audience course is designed to help students understand their audiences, including internal and external stakeholders, and develop effective communication strategies. This course has a four-week teaching period requiring approximately 40 hours of learning.
Course Objectives
By the end of the course, students will be able to:
- Evaluate target audiences to create specific communication outcomes
- Apply specialist communication skills to professionally manage effective messages in a variety of contexts

- Understanding your audience
- Audience analysis
- Audience strategies
- Communicating with content
Assessment
To be eligible for a digital badge for this course, students will need to successfully complete an assessment which includes:
- Audience profiles
- Evaluation
- A communication strategy

The material for this course has been designed for students who have already demonstrated a high level of skill in the subject matter. Students must have relevant experience and/or have studied the course material before (at competent level).

The course is taught by Dr. Caryn Coatney, a Journalism Lecturer at the University of Southern Queensland, with extensive experience in investigative news journalism and communication.
Course Credit
This Microcredential represents 0.25 units towards the 1.0 full unit course of credit. Connecting with Audience can be taken as a stand-alone course or combined with other Microcredentials to achieve a total of 1.0 unit of credit.
