Associate Degree of Engineering - Mining
Program Overview
Overview
The Mining Engineering major is designed to provide students with the skills, knowledge, and practical experience to thrive in the mining industry. This industry-aligned major has been developed as part of the Minerals Industry National Associate Degree (MINAD) project established by the Minerals Council of Australia (MCA). Students will explore the processes of planning, design, testing, and operation of open-cut and underground mines, benefiting from hands-on learning with practical experience in class and at mining sites.
Career Outcomes
As a graduate, potential career paths include positions within Australia and overseas in areas such as drill and blast engineering, quarrying, or excavation engineering. Graduates may also assist with planning mining developments, designing pit and waste areas, scheduling mining excavation and haulage processes, instrumentation and geotechnical monitoring, controlling and monitoring mining operations, and production.
Professional Accreditation
The Associate degree is provisionally accredited by Engineers Australia, and graduates are eligible to apply for Graduate membership at the Engineering Associate level.
