Course Description
The Professional Visual Art Project is a project-based capstone course aimed at industry preparedness in Visual Art, Design, or Film, Screen, and Audio Production. The course facilitates the integration of advanced learned knowledge and standard industry practices for employability and project outcomes. Students gain experience in a range of professional concepts, techniques, and skills to critically apply and professionally engage with the arts industry.
Topics
The course covers the following topics:
- Planning creative outcomes and evaluating career directions: Methods and models of art or practice and advanced knowledge of positioning practice within industry. (15.00%)
- Implementing, developing, and meeting project milestones: Developing project timeline, accountability, and studio/professional ethics. (15.00%)
- Professional production, presentation, and justification of creative work. (70.00%)

Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of this course, graduates will be able to:
- Identify an individual area of inquiry and issues of interest, and interrogate these with reference to relevant artist/industry research.
- Develop and enact experimental strategies to identify potential solutions.
- Evaluate experiments and refine practice based upon relevance, interest, and originality.
- Set and adhere to self-directed goals regarding timeframes, outcomes, and locations.
- Implement, plan, and complete developed artworks or arts-based projects to demonstrate industry-standard outcomes individually and/or collaboratively.
- Articulately and logically self-evaluate creative works and explain final outcomes in regard to field inquiry, and establish potential future implications resulting from the work.
