Overview
Estimates are significant to how clients, contractors and subcontractors perceive project success. Accordingly, it is important for students to have a clear understanding of procedures and processes used in developing project estimates. These include how quantities are measured from drawings, how costs are applied to quantity of works, and how these processes lead to tender action. In addition, students will relate quantity measurement and cost estimating to how project contracts are managed.
This course introduces students to measurement processes, and to pricing of quantities, using industry standards for measuring building and civil quantities. In addition, students will be introduced to standard computer programs which are available to assist with quantity measurement and costing.
