Program Overview


Course Description

Innovation in Art, Architecture, New Media & Design is the investigation of how the term 'artist' is not solely confined to fine art, but also how individuals in a variety of fields are reshaping what it means to be creative practitioners. Students in this class will have the opportunity to extend their understanding of the study of art by researching experimental ideas that are grounded within 20th Century history. These are the foundation upon which our contemporary societies are reshaped continually through private and public creativity.

Learning Outcomes

Upon completion of this course, graduates will be able to:


  1. Examine and discuss concepts associated with artists across multiple disciplines and how their practices represent contemporary hybridised artistic expression;
  2. Research and analyse historical and contemporary practices within art, architecture, new media and design;
  3. Work independently to develop and communicate ideas in writing that contribute to an emerging personal philosophy based on research, analysis and interpretation within all assignments;
  4. Research and interpret information and form critical arguments.
