The Medical Administrative Assistant Certification Training program is designed to provide students with the skills necessary to support office functions in a medical setting. This program prepares students for the National Healthcareer Association's Medical Administrative Assistant exam and opens up opportunities for employment in various healthcare facilities.

Program Overview

A Certified Medical Administrative Assistant (CMAA) plays a key role in ensuring the medical office environment runs smoothly and efficiently. They are skilled multi-taskers and help provide a positive, welcoming environment. CMAAs act as intermediaries between patients and medical providers, explaining doctors' recommendations and instructions and answering questions.

Program Details

The UWF Certified Medical Administrative Assistant training course will prepare students for the National Healthcareer Association exam. As a CMAA, students will perform a variety of tasks requiring strong communication skills and the ability to work well as a team. In this program, students will gain proficiency in:

• Greeting patients and facilitating the check-in process
• Answering calls and scheduling appointments
• Maintaining electronic medical records
• Completing insurance forms
• Managing office correspondence
• Coordinating hospital admissions and laboratory services
• Assisting with billing and bookkeeping

This 13-week program consists of 78 hours in the classroom and homework study time.

• A high school diploma or General Education Diploma (GED).
