Certified Clinical Medical Assistant Training (CCMA)
The Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) training program is designed to prepare individuals for a career as a medical assistant. Demand for medical assistants is growing faster than most other occupations, and this program equips students with the knowledge and experience necessary to pass the National Healthcareer Association's CMA certification exam.
Program Overview
The CCMA program combines clinical and procedural knowledge to aid office operations and patient procedures. As a CCMA, individuals will work directly with patients and support the work of doctors and healthcare professionals in hospitals, physicians' offices, and other healthcare facilities. The program covers various topics, including:
- Taking patient vital signs
- Assisting providers with exams and procedures
- Administering injections or medications
- Performing EKG, phlebotomy, and other essential laboratory procedures
- Checking patients in and out upon arrival and departure
- Updating and maintaining electronic health records (EHR)
- Answering phone calls and questions
Program Details
The 16-week hybrid program includes online instruction, live labs, and clinical experience led by current medical practitioners. The program consists of:
- 96 hours in the classroom
- Homework study time
- An 80 clock-hour externship, which serves as working experience and a reference for future employment
Admission Requirements
Prerequisites for the course include:
- A high school diploma or General Education Diploma (GED)
- No felony or misdemeanor related to the sale of drugs
- A history of vaccinations is periodically required to work in the externship
- Commitment to the rigorous 16-week course schedule

Externship
After completing the class portion of the program, students will be assisted in finding a placement in a local Family Practice office to gain hands-on experience. The location and times of the externship will be based on the student's availability.
Tuition and Funding Opportunities
The tuition for the program is $4,500, which includes all live instruction, labs, and materials, including the CCMA exam and externship experience. Payment plans are available for select certificate programs. Additionally, funding opportunities such as the Hope Florida Grant and the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) may be available to eligible individuals.
