Program Overview

The Florence, Italy (Summer) program is a faculty-led study abroad opportunity offered by Manhattan University. This program examines how journalism, storytelling, and public discourse shape national identity, with a focus on Italy's media landscape and contemporary issues surrounding migration and cultural change.

    • COMM 271: Transnational Communication and Media (3 credits)
      • A study of the different types of mass media systems in the world, the media systems of the world's countries and territories, the ways in which globalization has affected mass media to bring about a global media culture, and the ramifications of global media culture for the future.

Logistics

  • Program Fee: Includes tuition, excursions and cultural visits, round-trip flights out of New York City, housing in shared rooms for the duration of the program, some meals, and international health insurance.
  • Leadership: Led by an MU faculty member.
  • Participants: Travel with a group of Manhattan University students.
