The 1-Week Filmmaking Program

The 1-Week Filmmaking Program is an immersive, hands-on course designed to introduce students to the fundamentals of visual storytelling. Over the course of a week, students will explore the director's craft, learning how to translate ideas into compelling visual narratives.

Core Subjects

Students will engage in the following core subjects throughout the program:

  • Director's Craft: Exploring the language of filmmaking and learning how to make creative and technical choices that bring their vision to life.
  • Writing: Introduction to the basics of story structure, followed by workshopping their own film ideas and developing a foundational understanding of storytelling principles.
  • Hands-On Camera and Lighting: Practical exercises to gain essential training in capturing visually engaging images and working with available lighting to enhance storytelling.
  • Digital Editing: Introduction to the post-production process, learning fundamental editing techniques and applying them using Adobe Premiere or DaVinci Resolve.

Program Outcomes

By the end of the program, each student will have written, directed, shot, and edited a 2-3 minute non-dialogue film, relying purely on visuals, music, and sound effects to tell their story. Students will also gain experience as crew members on their classmates' projects, ensuring a well-rounded, collaborative filmmaking experience, and a completed short film to showcase their skills.
