Program Description
The immersive 2-Week Online Acting for Film Workshop teaches students how to choose and workshop monologues, write, shoot, and produce their own original material, break down and prepare a script, watch and discuss great performances from the industry's best talents, and prepare for the business by learning how to self-tape and submit for auditions. This program brings everyone to the same level quickly, starting with the fundamentals while filling gaps in understanding for those with prior experience.
No Prerequisites Required
This is an introductory workshop, and no prerequisites are required, nor is any prior experience expected.
Class Details
The program includes several key courses:
- Text in Action: Teaches core skills necessary for maintaining the integrity of a performance, focusing on analysis and mapping skills required while shooting out of sequence.
- Voice and Speech: Helps students hone a vocal technique that is open, free, flexible, lively, and possesses an extensive and colorful range.
- Monologue: Instructs students on how to choose a monologue that showcases their individual type, playing to their unique strengths as an actor.
- Audition Technique: Focuses on the fundamentals of crafting material for on-camera TV and film auditions, helping students create unique, compelling auditions.
- New Media: Explores new media forms, including web series, online content creation, and sketch production, teaching students to produce their own work with minimal cost.
- Performance Analysis: Students view and discuss pivotal film performances, developing an appreciation and technical understanding of various acting styles.
Times and Breakdown by Week
These are intensive, full-time Monday through Friday programs, typically running in three 3-hour sessions from morning to evening, with breaks in between. Students must anticipate extra time outside class for assignments, projects, and exercises. Daily class times may vary, with occasional Saturday classes.
