Introduction to the 1-Semester Acting for Film Program

The 1-Semester Acting for Film Program at the New York Film Academy (NYFA) is designed to equip students with the foundational skills necessary for a career in film acting. This intensive program is offered in Florence, Italy, and provides students with a comprehensive education in acting techniques, voice, movement, and the fundamentals of film production.


Program Description

The 1-Semester Acting for Film Program is a full-time course that runs for twelve weeks in Florence, Italy. Students participate in a broad array of core acting classes that introduce them to the principles of acting for the screen. The program focuses on building a strong foundation in acting, studying techniques rooted in theater but applied to screen acting. Students gain confidence working in front of the camera and also participate in a live performance.


Study Abroad Opportunity

The 1-Semester Acting for Film Program may be used as a study abroad opportunity for students who meet the application requirements. Upon successfully completing the program, students have the option to receive a regionally accredited transcript, offering transferability of credits. However, students should confirm credit policies at their institution, as the acceptance of transfer credits is governed by the receiving school.

Additional Expenses

Students will incur additional expenses for their own productions, which vary depending on the amount of film shot and the scale of the projects.


Institutional Fees and Tuition Costs

An annual increase is expected for all tuition and fees. Costs listed do not include housing, food, transportation, books, additional necessary supplies, activities fee, or health insurance.


Approval and Accreditation

The New York Film Academy is approved to operate by the California Bureau for Private Postsecondary Education (BPPE), indicating compliance with the minimum standards contained in the California Private Postsecondary Education Act of 2009.
