Introduction to the MFA in Creative Writing Program
The MFA in Creative Writing program at Pacific Lutheran University is a three-year, low-residency program that offers students the opportunity to study poetry, fiction, and creative nonfiction. The program is designed to provide students with a comprehensive education in creative writing, as well as the skills and knowledge necessary to succeed as a writer.
Program Overview
The program consists of four residencies, each lasting 10 days, which are held on the PLU campus in July. During the residencies, students will participate in workshops, lectures, and other activities designed to help them improve their writing skills. Students will also work one-on-one with a faculty mentor during the academic year, submitting packets of work and receiving feedback and guidance.
Admission Requirements

Letters of recommendation are optional, and GRE scores are not required. The program is looking for motivated adults with established writing and reading habits, who want to raise their work to a new level.
