Program Overview


Program Overview

The Math Modeling Camp is a program designed to provide students with focused mathematical modeling lessons, hands-on Python demonstrations and labs, and short group projects. Students are divided into fixed instructional groups based on their calculus experience and computer literacy.


Program Details

  • Program hours: 10:00 AM–4:00 PM
  • Day-1 check-in: 9:30–9:45 AM, orientation: 9:45–10:00 AM
  • Other days check-in: 9:45–9:55 AM

Daily Activities

  • Morning and afternoon sessions each have four parts: two instructional/demonstration segments and two applied/problem-solving segments
  • Breaks are short, supervised transitions

What to Bring

  • Required: water bottle, photo ID for pick-up, closed-toe shoes
  • Recommended: notebook and pen, sunscreen, light jacket
  • Optional: personal laptop (if pre-approved)
  • Do not bring: food to share, valuable items, or weapons

Safety, Health, and Medical

  • At least one staff member certified in Adult and Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED will be on site during program hours
  • First-aid supplies and emergency procedures are posted in each classroom
  • Indicate allergies and medication on the registration form
  • Lunch and dining staff will be informed of allergy lists and other dietary restrictions

Emergency Procedures

  • For serious medical emergencies, staff will call 911 and notify the student's emergency contact immediately
  • Minor injuries are treated on site and logged

Accessibility and Accommodations

  • The program strives to accommodate documented needs
  • Contact the camp office in advance to discuss specific accommodations

Daily Operations and Policies

  • Respectful behavior is required
  • Repeated disruptive behavior may result in removal from activities and, in extreme cases, dismissal without refund
  • Photography and media: the program may take photos of activities for promotional use

Cancellation and Refund Policy

  • Free cancellation (full refund): cancel on or before April 17
  • Partial cancellation (fee applies): cancel between April 18 and May 24, a $50 cancellation fee will be retained
  • No refunds will be issued for cancellations after May 24

Camp Schedule

  • The camp begins on June 1
  • Daily schedule includes morning and afternoon sessions with instructional and applied segments

Logistics

  • Drop-off and pick-up procedures are strictly enforced for student safety
  • Staff will greet families at the designated entrance and confirm the student on the roster
  • Bring photo ID for pick-up verification
  • Dismissal begins at 4:00 PM, final sign-out completes by 4:15 PM
